LA MASA DE LA RAZA

LA MASA DE LA RAZA

By Rosanna Alvarez

As we kick off the fourth year with the thirteenth issue of Eastside Magazine, I can’t help but reflect on how beautiful the journey has been. This magazine remains a wildly beautiful humbling affirmation and it continues to be an honor to work alongside a team that continues to help shape this ofrenda, as we continue to tell our stories con sabor y corazón.

“I can’t help but reflect on how beautiful the journey has been.”

It has always been my hope that the magazine would serve as an ongoing invitation and declaration of our existence as a constellation of beautifully complicated and complex people that shape each other on the daily. An invitation that helps us remember and recollect (or re-collect, if you will) a grounded curiosity of how we see ourselves in ways that allow us to show up fully and authentically.

“It has always been my hope that the magazine would serve as an ongoing invitation and declaration of our existence...”

An on-record reflection of how we embody poetry as people; where our art and culture are ways of life, reminding us of how we thrive across space and time; a glimpse into how we see ourselves and how we create something out of what is often dismissed as nothing. In a way, the magazine has been documenting the collective recipes of our richly diverse community, documenting how we provide sustenance to one another throughout the ebbs and flows of life.

“...a glimpse into how we see ourselves and how we create something out of what is often dismissed as nothing.”
