The Weight that is Carried
The Weight that is Carried
BY Ragini Sharma
This pain and uncertainty
Makes my stomach churn in agony
How dare they allow genocide to just slide by?
The mental exhaustion...
Thinking about all the bones
The weight on my chest, I cannot disown.
Yet these thoughts keep racing inside my head
Of all the haunting, harrowing,
horrors of senseless bloodshed.
The world is disconnected
From what it was,
The days slip by, in a hazy blur
Gaza’s people are not heard; instead, they are being murdered.
Under the war machine and its bloody thunder
The famine is there, yet the media still tries to cover
Searching for comfort in a quiet space,
In fleeting moments that time will never erase
Praying for peace, breaths drawn in deep.
A promise that pain is not ours to keep,
But to use our platforms and continue to speak,
We all must do our part to advocate for peace.
Hope is the thread, I refuse to let go
As the darkness comes to pass,
Tomorrow I’ll rise again, today I will stand fast.
